Independent Filmmaking - Financing, Producing, and Distributing
The growing revenues and popularity of independent films produced outside of the major studio system (domestically and internationally) are showing emerging profit potential. Producers are not only creating new and scalable business models but also gathering financing through venture capital and private equity. Rapidly changing technologies are also altering the ways films are distributed to the general public.
This film panel will bring together producers, investors and distributors. Topics will include: 1) The profitability of the independent film industry and its attractiveness to investors; 2) The business model and cost structure needed to enhance profitability; 3) The current economic downturn/credit crunch and its affect on independent film financing; 4) Film project selection and its influence on investors. 5) The changing landscape of film distribution. 6) The increasing importance of the global markets as sources of content and distribution.
